This was fun, and made to not only send a message to those of you new to this video and filmmaking thing, but so I could have a little fun making something around Halloween that was a bit cheesy.
It's amazing how hard it is to make something cheesy other than food. Try it sometime - make something that could be really epic and cool looking, like a ghost and shooting the hell out of it at the end, and NOW try and make it look cheesy (cheesy - not bad).
The message here is pretty plain - you may be new to this video and filmmaking thing, so it's real easy to listen to (and I quote) "experts" who have no responsibility for leading you down some garden path of destruction.
You're new at this - so make the frickin mistakes! Shoot something crappy! Learn! Do more! And quit trying to listen to everyone and drool over gear you can't afford.
There is no good video, film, commercial or anything, really, that was made well by some amateur because he had good equipment or listened to a bunch of people's opinions on what he/she should do.
So carry on - you're learning!
Make mistakes, forget that white balance, mis-light that green screen, record that crappy audio, forget to format that media card, ramble on endlessly in some hour long unboxing review, and post it all for the world to see.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain - experience, and you can't buy that even if you had all the money in the world.
Take pride in WHATEVER you create.
It's the critics and complainers that can't create, and that's really why they poke at you.
Ignore them, and win.
